Q: The wealth area of our home is the Master Bedroom. We currently have a tabletop water fountain in the back left corner of the room, as well as some other objects like photos of our dream house and garden, chinese coins, and amethyst crystals. I have recently read on the internet that water features should not be in the Master bedroom even if it is the wealth area. Is this true?
A: Yes, it’s correct that a water fountain is not advised for the bedroom. Water brings excessive
yin energy into this already-
yin space. Wood energy is an excellent addition to the wealth area, so for the bedroom, instead of a fountain, I’d recommend some kind of plant or tree, such as a live orchid, or a jade plant. You could also use a representation of a tree, such as the wire-and-gemstone-chip ones some FS retailers sell. Here's an image I grabbed off the web. This one is styled as a miniature bonsai:

You can move the water fountain to the career area, or to a position near the entry. If the water flow is predominantly in one direction, try to place the fountain so that the water flows toward the center of the home, rather than toward the doorway.
The wealth area is a wonderful location for the Master Bedroom; I hope it brings you much happiness and good fortune.
